What happened
Anthropic has folded Claude Cowork, its agentic work environment, into the main Claude conversation, so a single chat can now carry a task from a quick question to a finished deliverable, even running after the user closes their laptop. New Claude Docs and Claude Slides let users draft documents and presentations inside the conversation, with Claude Design built in too. Everything is in beta on paid plans, rolling out on Pro and Max first, with Enterprise admins controlling when the features switch on.
Why it matters
The line between "chatbot" and "agent that does the work" is disappearing in the mainstream tools your teams already use. Long-running, unsupervised tasks — reports drafted overnight, slides assembled from a pipeline review — are now a consumer-grade default rather than a bespoke build. That raises immediate questions about governance: who approves work an AI completed unattended, what data it touched, and how output is checked before it reaches a client or board pack.
